IDEAS PhD Application Assistant

Welcome! This form will guide you through the preparation of your IDEAS PhD application package, including project preferences, academic background, and supporting documents.

At the end, a single PDF application package will be generated for submission through the official IDEAS application process.

1) Applicant information

This ID will be used internally for your application. You do not need to keep it.

Please select 'other', if you are part of UFZ or HZDR, but do not have a working contract, e.g. if you are an intern

2) Project ranking

Choose your preferred projects in order of priority (at least one project is required).

Select up to 3 different projects. At least one project is required.

3) Academic background

Enter your degrees starting with the highest/most recent one, including institution details and graduation information.

For each degree, provide final grade, grade scale minimum and maximum, and indicate whether lower or higher values are better.

At least one degree is required. Institution autocomplete uses only your typed institution term against ROR.

4) Domain science and data science experience

To help you reflect on your academic and research experience, we have listed a range of domain science and data science topics. Please indicate your proficiency level based on your knowledge and practical experience. We do not expect experience in all areas.

5) References (2 required)

Provide details for two different referees, including institution and web/profile link for each.

If no personal website is available for your reference, add their institution/company website that shows your contact’s affiliation.

6) Publications and research outputs

Add DOIs and links for your research outputs.

Each DOI is automatically validated.
Each preprint DOI is automatically validated.
Each link gets a basic existence check.

7) Awards, Grants, and distinctions

List relevant awards, honors, or distinctions that support your application.

8) One more thing

Tell us something memorable about yourself that may not be obvious from the CV, publications, or motivation letter.

This is not a motivation letter. Instead, use this space to share something that helps us understand who you are as a researcher, collaborator, or person. You may highlight a unique experience, personal strength, research philosophy, career aspiration, achievement, challenge you overcame, or even a quotation that describes you particularly well.

Privacy notice

All information entered into this form and all uploaded documents are processed locally within your web browser and remain on your device.

The IDEAS Application Builder does not upload, transmit, store, or share your documents or application data with any external server. The uploaded files are used solely to generate a single combined PDF application package on your local machine.

You are responsible for reviewing and submitting the generated PDF through the official IDEAS application process.

Important: Do not rename the generated PDF package file before uploading it to the official e-recruiting system.
